I've just been informed that my internal clock is off by AN ENTIRE WEEK.

Tunes: Wicked Soundtrack

Recently Bennett recruited me to this game development team for his story A Western Tale. I'm not really going to go into it (there's a lot to go into) but I'm the designated creature designer. I think drawing crazy looking critters today is starting to get me out of my funk.

This is good.

I'm still in theater mode from seeing Wicked tonight.

Me and Bennett had tickets which my 'rents bought for my birthday (same reason I saw Spamalot) and we THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. Unlike most plays I've seen where I know all the words to the songs or have seen the movie version if there is one, I knew next to nothing about Wicked. Never read the book, I'd heard maybe 2 songs from being around friends who were already fans and that it was a prequel to Wizard of Oz. I'm kinda glad I went into the show blindly, it was completely new.

The set was freaking awesome, it was covered in gears and wires. Totally steampunk for no reason, and there was a giant steam dagron hanging from the ceiling. The whole set up and lighting was done really well. The costumes were really inspiring as well, and I ended up buying the program to use as reference for things. The colors were so vibrant! Though I'm leaning towards more muted colors, the designs are killer and I can't wait to sketch.

There was no one famous (at least that I knew) in this show (John O'Hurley was King Arthur when I saw Spamalot) but that doesn't really matter when the cast is talented as hell. Elphaba had an amazing singing voice and me and Bennett laughed at like everything Glinda did. She was so hilarious. Gah the songs were so good and everything looked so amazing. I'm really happy I got to go.

This is kind of a lot considering I'm leaving for work right now and won't be home till like 9:30. WE'LL SEE HOW THIS GOES.

After waking up at 6:30 for class every morning, generally not having time for socialization or art and coming home from a 4-5.5 hour shift at burrito hell you know what the I look forward to at the end of the day? Even Stevens and Neil Gaiman.

Thanks Louis, Twitty, Tawney and even Ren for your silly after school Disney type shenanigans and to Neil Gaiman for making your readings of the Graveyard Book available to the public. Listening to your favorite author who happens to have a british accent read you a bedtime story is the best.

In a rare occurrence, Peter actually picked up his phone and was able to give me a ride to Chelsea's house (Bennett's gf) for a day of Avatar watching. We got through all of season 1 and a chunk of season two before I had to leave because I still have the retarded curfew of midnight.

When we got to season 2 and the episode where Toph was introduced we started joking around about casting ideas for M. Night Shamallama's movie adaptations. The kid who got the part of Aang got the role by sending in a video of him doing kung fu moves dressed like the character. So we figure we just dress me up like Toph and send in a video of me being a violent jackass and I should get the part no problem! We then continued to say that The Rock should play The Boulder because they're basically the same person. Which of course lead to the topic of how friggin awesome it would be to have a movie where I get to beat the crap out of The Rock.

Also Wicked is soon. :O
